Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy used for applications that require corrosion and high temperature resistance. An austenitic sold-solution alloy, Inconel 600 also shows good resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. Inconel 600 is a spring quality wire, it is non-magnetic, has excellent mechanical properties, and presents the desirable combination of high strength and good weldability under a wide range of temperatures. Inconel 600 is found in environments from cryogenic to those over 2000º F (1100º C). Moreover, these Nickel Alloy 600 Sheets also offer the ability to heat or cold form. They provide resistance to stress related corrosion and aging in annealed as well as heavily cold worked range. UNS N06600 Strip thus avoids chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.
ASTM B168 UNS N06600 is also said to be resistant to oxidation. Hence it is suitable for applications and services that are prone to oxidation. This is in the case of services and applications that are exposed to high temperatures or pressure.
