Stainless Steel 316L(UNS S31603 1.4404/1.4435) is a low carbon austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel, 1.4435 is used as a medical grade due to its excellent resistance of all corrosions, it is a higher alloyed variant of 1.4404. AISI 316L is more resistant to carbide precipitation, has good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 1600°F (870°C) and in continuous service to 1700°F (925°C).
SAE 316L grade stainless steel, sometimes referred to as A4 stainless steel or marine grade stainless steel, is the second most common austenitic stainless steel after 304/A2 stainless steel. Since 316L contains less carbon than 316, it has better intergranular corrosion resistance, 316L is the superior choice for high corrosion and high temperature applications.
