Alloy 31, also known as VDM Alloy 31, 1.4562, UNS grade N08031, is a new type of austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy containing 6.5% molybdenum and nitrogen. It has strong corrosion resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and is even better than traditional 6-Mo steel in many applications. The 31 alloy was created by VDM Metals in Germany and fills the gap between austenitic high-alloy special stainless steel and nickel alloy.

Certified for pressure vessels with wall temperatures between -196 and 427°C.
VdTÜV certified for pressure vessels with operating temperatures from -196 to 550°C.
ISO 15156/NACE MR 0175 certified for sour gas applications up to Class VI in the oil and gas industry.
ASME certified for pressure vessels up to 427°C (800°F).
