Stainless steel grade S32760 has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of areas, especially resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater and other chloride containing environments, with critical pitting temperature that is more than 50°C (122°F). This material is known to also have high strength and extended lifecycle. It is 10% lighter than grade 316 steel, ideal for sub-zero service, and more cost effective than nickel alloys. Stainless steel grade F55 can be easily machined and welded.
S32760 and F55 dual-phase steels have strong strength and corrosion resistance. They have strong resistance to chloride corrosion, high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion coefficient. The high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content make them highly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion and other corrosion.

Solution Annealing: UNS S32760 is usually delivered in the solution annealed state, which involves heating the alloy to 1020-1100°C and then rapidly cooling it.
Heat treatment may be required after welding to relieve welding stress and ensure that the alloy maintains corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties in the weld area.
Welding of UNS S32760 requires controlled welding parameters to avoid excessive heat input and cooling rates to prevent undesirable phase transformation or intergranular corrosion. Using appropriate filler materials and controlling appropriate welding processes are essential to ensure quality.
S32760 vs. S31803 (F51): UNS S32760 has better resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking than S31803 and is suitable for more severe environments, especially in seawater applications.
S32760 vs. Inconel 625: Inconel 625 offers excellent high temperature oxidation resistance but may be more expensive and is not as corrosion resistant in chloride environments as S32760. S32760 is more corrosion resistant in chloride environments than the other alloys.
