Alloy 718, 2.4668, UNS N07718, Inconel 718 - description

Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that is made to offer resistance to the variety of corrosive conditions, pitting and crevice corrosion. It offers high tensile and creeping strength at the elevated temperatures. It is employed in the applications from cryogenic temperatures to 1200oF for prolong service. Nickel 718 super alloy is a preferred material for use in aeronautics and land based gas turbines, marine engineering, pollution control, nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel processing and other industries. An easy to form and economical alloy 718 offers high tensile strength, fatigue strength, creeping resistance and stress rupturing properties that are widely useful in the different applications.

Inconel 718 addition of niobium acts with the molybdenum to stiffen the alloy’s matrix and provide high strength without a strengthening heat treatment. Other popular nickel-chromium alloys are age hardened through the addition of aluminum and titanium. And heat-resistant nickel alloy available in bars, pipes, flanges, forgings, sheets and plates. It is a multiple melted alloy including VIM and/or VAR processes. Inconel 718 Nickel Alloy has high strength and creep rupture properties up from cryogenic temperatures to 1300° F, along with corrosion resistance and weldability with resistance to cracking. Inconel 718 Nickel Alloy has good resistance to oxidation and corrosion at temperatures and atmospheres in jet engine and gas turbine operations. It is also corrosion resistant to acids, sea water and sour oil and/or gas. JN Alloy manufacture a wide range of Inconel 718 products, always to the highest standard.

What are Inconel 718 Pipes?

Nickel-chromium-iron is the main component of the Inconel 718 tube, which is made by age-hardening. Besides molybdenum, titanium, niobium, and aluminum, it contains considerable amounts of molybdenum, titanium, and niobium. The material is corrosion-resistant and extremely strong all at the same time.  At temperatures up to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit, Inconel 718 tube has very good creep-rupture and yields tensile capabilities, as well as oxidation resistance to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to adding stiffness to the alloy, molybdenum will provide high strength without the necessity of heat treatment reinforcement. Adding aluminum and titanium to nickel-chromium alloys can toughen the alloys over time.

With robust creep-rupture properties, these tubes are very high in yield power and have high tensile strength. Nickel is the main component of Inconel 718 Tubes. These tubes are made for applications that need very high yield power, high tensile strength, and robust creep-rupture properties. Resistivity to chlorine, high temperatures, and sulfide stress corrosion cracking does not affect Inconel 718 tubes as it provides exceptional qualities. Tubes made from Inconel 718 do not corrode in water or crack when chloride ions attack them.

As a professional superalloy supplier, JN Alloy manufacture high performance Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) seamless pipe & tube. Inconel 718 is a precipitation-strengthened superalloy. It has very high strength at medium and high temperature. Therefore, this alloy is often used in parts that need to be stressed at high temperatures.
