Inconel 625 Properties

Inconel 625 alloy is a non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant and oxidation-resistant Ni-Cr alloy. The high strength of Inconel 625 is due to the hardening of molybdenum and niobium on the Ni-Cr matrix of the alloy. Inconel 625 is highly resistant to a variety of abnormally severe corrosive environments, including high temperature effects (such as oxidation and Carburizing), including corrosion.

Its excellent strength and toughness in the high temperature range from low temperature to up to 2000 °F (1093 °C) mainly comes from the solid solution of refractory metals Co and molybdenum in Ni-Cr matrix. Ni-Cr alloy 625 has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, high corrosion fatigue strength, high tensile strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking to chloride ion-making it an excellent choice for seawater applications. The unique combination of its components makes Inconel 625 highly resistant to corrosive substances.

Upon exposure to oxidising agents, Inconel 625 is protected naturally by its nickel-chromium matrix. Meanwhile, molybdenum protects the material against pitting corrosion. In 15% sulfuric acid, the material corrodes at a minimal rate of 0.188 mm per year. Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) is a nickel base superalloy with excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. It also has high strength and fatigue properties over a wide temperature range, and can be easily welded and brazed. It is widely used in chemical, nuclear and marine applications. Aerospace applications include fuselage and jet engine components as well as space shuttle mainframe components.

Inconel 625 has high content of chromium and molybdenum and excellent corrosion fatigue strength. In addition, Inconel 625 has moderately high tensile strength, creep resistance and excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Inconel 625 Flanges

What is flanges?

INCONEL 625 flanges are a type of flange made from INCONEL 625 alloy. This alloy is designed to withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments, making INCONEL 625 flanges ideal for use in demanding applications such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and aerospace. These flanges are available in various sizes and can be customized to meet specific needs. Inconel 625 Flanges are fittings used in piping systems, specifically in connecting pipe sections. They are made from heat-resistant Nickel-Chromium alloy and have excellent corrosion resistance and high strength, making them ideal for chemical processing applications such as oil and gas production. In addition to their robust construction, they feature the bonus of being relatively lightweight, which makes installation easier than traditional steel flanges. Furthermore, they possess several properties that render them suitable for difficult conditions, such as exposure to extreme temperatures and pressurized environments. Their durability is further enhanced by the fact that they can be designed into any size or shape depending on the specific requirements of each application.

Inconel 625 Flanges are specialized flange that provides superior corrosion, strength, and heat resistance to meet demanding engineering applications. Nickel alloy 625 Weldneck Flanges are designed for several purposes, such as high-temperature service requiring significant mechanical strength; they have great flexibility under a wide range of conditions due to their ability to withstand extreme weathering; and are suitable for use in many corrosive environments.

Flanges types

Inconel 625 Flanges are among the most popular and widely used in the piping industry. They are made from a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy, also known as an Inconel alloy. This benefit flanges because it provides superior strength, durability, corrosion resistance and heat resistance properties, making them ideal for high-temperature or extreme-pressure applications. JN ALLOY supplies Inconel 625 SO flanges, Inconel 625 WN flanges, UNS N06625 blind flanges, 2.4816 Inconel 625 plain flanges, ASTM B564 UNS N06625 SW flanges, Inconel 625 spectacle blind flanges, Inconel 625 threaded flanges, 2.4816 spacer ring,UNS N06625 paddle blind/blank, Inconel 625 bleed/test/drip ring, Inconel 625 reducing flange.

Inconel 625 Flanges application

Flanges are a type of connector used to join pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment in various industries. There are different types of flanges, each with unique features and applications. Here's a look at some of the different types of flanges and the field they are commonly used in:

Weld Neck Flanges: These are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, and petrochemical. Weld neck flanges have a long tapered hub that gradually merges into the pipe, which provides an even distribution of stress across the flange. They are ideal for applications that require high pressure and temperature.

Socket Weld Flanges: These are commonly used in industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical. Socket weld flanges have a socket in the flange bore that accommodates the pipe, which is then welded into place. They are ideal for applications that require high pressure and temperature.

Threaded Flanges: A threaded flange is a type of flange that is mounted on the outer circumference of the pipe or equipment and has a threaded inner surface. The threaded structure allows the flange to be held together with the connection point by tightening and loosening bolts or nuts. Threaded flanges are used to provide a secure connection and achieve sealing in pipelines or equipment. The use of threaded flanges reduces the risk of leakage in pipelines or equipment and ensures a secure connection. These are commonly used in industries such as plumbing, HVAC, and water treatment.

Lap Joint Flanges: Lap joint flanges consist of a flat face flange and a separate backing flange. The backing flange is typically made of different materials and is used to provide alignment and support. Lap joint flanges are commonly used in systems requiring frequent dismantling.

Slip-On Flanges: Slip-on flanges have a slightly larger diameter than the pipe and are slipped over the pipe before being welded in place. They are easier to align and are often used in low-pressure applications. Slip-on flanges are not suitable for applications with high bending moments or severe temperature fluctuations.

Blind Flange: A blind flange is a round plate with all associated air holes except the central hole, and due to this characteristic, blind flanges are often used to close the ends of piping systems and pressure vessel openings. It also provides easy access to the interior of the line or container once it is sealed and must be reopened.

When further repairs are required, a blind flange is often inserted into the pipe. This allows the downstream flange to be disconnected without fear of fluid loss. Many times this type of blocking is used when adding another line to an existing pipeline or adding a new valve. This type of blocking is also used to shut down lines when they are no longer needed.

In summary, flanges are an essential component of many industries and applications. The type of flange used will depend on the application’, including pressure, temperature, and material compatibility. It is important to choose the right type of flange and ensure proper installation and maintenance to ensure the safety and efficiency of the system.
