What is Incoloy 800HT material?

Incoloy 800HT is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy having the same basic composition as Incoloy 800, with significantly higher creep rupture strength. The higher strength results from close control of carbon, aluminum and titanium contents in conjunction with a high temp anneal. The Incoloy 800 HT modification was to control carbon (0.05 to 0.10%) and grain size to (>ASTM 5) to optimize stress rupture properties. Incoloy 800 HT has further modifications to the combined titanium and aluminum levels (0.85 to 1.2%) to ensure optimum high temperature properties. The alloy is dual certified and combines the properties of both forms.

Incoloy 800HT is a controlled composition derivative of alloy 800H, based on the original compositional structure of alloy 800. It has a more precise carbon content of 0.06-0.10%, but the main difference in the HT version of the metal is that it has a stricter range of aluminium and titanium contents. Incoloy 800HT maintains higher allowable design stresses through a restricted chemistry and requires a heat treatment of 1149°C.

The chemical balance allows the alloy to exhibit excellent resistance to carburization, oxidation and nitriding atmospheres. Incoloy 800HT will not become embrittled even after long periods of usage in the 1200-1600 deg F range where many stainless steels become brittle. Excellent cold forming characteristics typically associated with the nickel-chromium alloys are exhibited with Incoloy 800 HT. When cold formed extensively the grain size produces a visibly undulated surface called "orange peel". Incoloy 800HT can be welded by the common techniques used on stainless steels.

Typical applications for the Incoloy 800HT include ethylene pyrolysis, hydrocarbon cracking, cracking furnaces for vinyl chloride, diphenol and acetic acid. The alloy is also used for valves, fittings and other components exposed to corrosive attack from 1100 to 1800 deg F. Round bar ranging from 3/4" to 6" diameter, and light gauge sheet and plate. Incoloy 800HT material can be supplied in random lengths, cut to order or machined to customer requirements. JN Alloy is suppliers of Incoloy 800HT nickel in sheet, pipes, flanges, pipes fittings, round bar, and plate stock in a variety of lengths and widths, and we can custom cut this material to your exact specifications.contact us.

Typical Applications of Incoloy 800HT

Industrial Applications

Incoloy 800HT are used in the production of a variety of chemicals and petrochemicals、 construct power plants and other types of heavy industrial machinery.

Aerospace Industry

The aerospace industry is one of the most demanding industries regarding material selection. Components like turbine blades, heat exchangers, and exhaust systems require materials that can withstand high temperatures, corrosion, and extreme pressure. This is where Incoloy 800HT come in. Their impressive mechanical and thermal properties, including oxidation resistance, high strength, and thermal stability, provide an excellent option for these critical components.

Chemical Processing Industry

Chemical processing is another industry where Incoloy 800HT have found significant use. These bars offer excellent resistance to corrosion and high-temperature environments, making them ideal for various applications, including heat exchangers, chemical reactors, and condensers. They also exhibit superior strength and toughness, making them well-suited for environments where harsh acids and chemicals are present.

Power Generation Industry

Incoloy 800HT are also widely used in the power generation industry. From nuclear power plants to oil refineries and gas processing plants, these round bars are used in various applications that require high strength and resistance to oxidation and corrosion. They can withstand high temperatures and pressure, making them ideal for use in steam turbines, valves, and other critical components.

Marine Industry

The marine industry uses Incoloy 800HT due to their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion. These bars are used in desalination plants, pump shafts, and valves, among other marine-based applications. They are also ideal for use in high-pressure environments, such as deep-sea oil drilling. Incoloy 800HT round bars are widely used in marine applications due to their high resistance to corrosion, good mechanical strength and excellent fabric ability. They can withstand extreme temperatures and pressure in the harsh marine environment. Thanks to its superior resistance against pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking, it is extensively used for exhaust systems of diesel-powered vessels as well as propeller shafts and rudders. It also finds use in seawater piping lines, heat exchangers, boilers, seawater coolers & condensers and many more components which come into contact with highly corrosive seawater.

Food Processing Industry

Incoloy 800HT are also finding use in the food processing industry. Stainless steel is the go-to material for food processing equipment, but Incoloy 800HT is gaining ground due to its excellent resistance to high-temperature environments and corrosion. Food processing applications, such as heat exchangers and sterilization equipment, require materials that can withstand harsh chemicals and high temperatures without corroding or contaminating the food. Incoloy 800HT round bars fit the bill perfectly.
