Hastelloy C276 alloy (UNS N10276) was the first wrought, nickel-chromium-molybdenum material to alleviate concerns over welding (by virtue of extremely low carbon and silicon contents). As such, it was widely accepted in the chemical process and associated industries, and now has a more than 50-year-old track record of proven performance in a vast number of corrosive chemicals. Like other nickel alloys, Hastelloy C276 is ductile, easy to form and weld, and possesses exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing solutions (a form of degradation to which the austenitic stainless steels are prone). Furthermore, it is very resistant to sulfide stress cracking and stress corrosion cracking in sour, oilfield environments.
Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy with an addition of tungsten designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. The high nickel and molybdenum contents make the nickel steel alloy especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments while chromium conveys resistance to oxidizing media. The low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding to maintain corrosion resistance in as-welded structures. This nickel alloy is resistant to the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process application in an as welded condition.
While Hastelloy C276 is the most universally resistant substance to corrosion that is currently available, it is not infallible. The metal should not be exposed to high temperature, highly acidic environments. Similarly, it is more easily worked with cold-working practices; hot-working hardens it more easily. If hot working, temperatures should be kept between 1600°F and 2250°F.
Hastelloy C276 Fittings is used in high temperature and high corrosion prone applications. The material is corrosion resistant and heat resistant because of its unique composition. It is a nickel molybdenum chromium super alloy that is stabilized with tungsten. The Hastelloy C276 Fittings come under the ASTM B366 specification. JN Alloy is a leading supplier and manufacturer of these fittings in different types, sizes and threads. There are seamless fittings and buttweld fittings.
Hastelloy C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy. A major advantage of this alloy is that it mostly does not require solution heat treatment after welding. It resists the formation of grain boundary precipitates that would degrade corrosion resistance. Hastelloy C276 Fittings is well known for Good machinability, although the alloy work hardens as is true of the nickel base alloys in general. Can be cold worked by all conventional methods. Weldable by all common methods except that excessive heat input should be avoided.
Hastelloy C276 Pipe Fittings is one of the most widely used fittings, amongst the other Hastelloy variants. Since these fittings have excellent performance in the most severe environments, the Hastelloy C276 Stub End is regularly a part of industries such as chemical processing, pollution control, industrial and municipal waste treatment, as well as pulp and paper production and recovery of sour natural gas.
