On October 9, 2025, we received an inquiry from a Finnish customer for C22 alloy steel pipes in Harbin. The customer had already contacted four suppliers but had not received a satisfactory price. They hoped we could provide them with a reasonable quote.
Hastelloy C22 steel pipe refers to pipes made of Hastelloy C22 alloy. Hastelloy C22 is a nickel alloy containing elements such as nickel, molybdenum, cobalt, and tungsten, with a nickel content of approximately 60%. Hastelloy C22 alloy has good resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Furthermore, Hastelloy C22 (N06022) alloy also exhibits resistance to reducing and oxidizing environments.

Seamless Pipe Manufacturing
The manufacturing process for Hastelloy C22 seamless pipes begins with the production of alloy raw materials such as nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. These materials are first melted under vacuum induction or electroslag remelted to form ingots, ensuring uniform composition.
The ingots are then heated to 1150-1200℃, and a mandrel is inserted through the center of the ingot using a piercing mill to form a hollow tube blank. This blank is then initially shaped through hot rolling and hot extrusion.
Finally, cold rolling or cold drawing processes are used to reduce the diameter and wall thickness through multiple passes, achieving high-precision dimensional requirements.

Welded Pipe Manufacturing
The manufacturing process for Hastelloy C22 welded pipes involves first producing the alloy into strip or plate material.
After cleaning to remove surface impurities, the strip is bent into a tubular shape using methods such as roll forming. The seam is then fused together using welding processes such as resistance welding (ERW) or electrofusion welding (EFW).
After welding, non-destructive testing such as radiographic testing is performed on the weld to check for defects such as porosity and lack of fusion. At the same time, dimensional calibration and surface treatment are carried out.

Q1: Can Hastelloy C22 be welded? Is it easy to machine?
A: Yes, Hastelloy C22 is perfectly weldable and has excellent weldability. It is suitable for common welding methods such as TIG, MIG, and manual arc welding. It is less prone to cracking and corrosion defects after welding, making it suitable for joining complex structures and in highly corrosive environments.
Its machining performance is also relatively good. With proper process and equipment control, Hastelloy C22 can be smoothly machined and joined using turning, milling, drilling, and welding, making it suitable for most high-performance manufacturing applications.
Q2: What is the difference between C22 and C276?
A: Both Hastelloy C22 and C276 are nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, renowned for their excellent corrosion resistance. However, C22 has more chromium and added tungsten, resulting in better overall corrosion resistance to both oxidizing and reducing media, making it particularly suitable for extreme mixed acid and high-chlorine environments.
C276 is known for its excellent resistance to chloride ion corrosion and broad chemical compatibility, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring resistance to reducing acids and chloride corrosion.
Q3: Does JN offer custom sizes and in-stock products?
A: Yes. Our company offers both standard-sized in-stock products and custom sizes, wall thicknesses, and lengths according to customer requirements, ensuring you receive the right product quickly.
