Type 347 is a niobium stabilized chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel with corrosion resistance similar to 304/304L. This grade is typically used in the 800-1500˚F temperature range where it is stabilized against chromium carbide precipitation by the addition of niobium, which results in the precipitation of niobium carbides. Stainless Steel 347 has slightly improved corrosion resistance over type 321 stainless steel in strongly oxidizing environments. Alloy 347 is a columbium(niobium)/tantalum stabilized austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel which was developed to provide an 18-8 type alloy with improved intergranular-corrosion resistance. Alloy 347 has a slightly improved corrosion resistance over other alloys of stainless steel in strongly oxidizing environments as a result of the addition of columbium (niobium) and tantalum. Columbium-tantalum carbides precipitate within the grains instead of forming at the grain boundaries. Type 347 should be considered for applications requiring intermittent heating between 800ºF (427ºC) and 1650ºF (899ºC), or for welding under conditions which prevent a post-weld anneal.
347 stainless steel can witdh stand to high temperature and this grade has a good corosion resistance in temperatures between 400 to 800 degree. This grade is written as 1.4550 or X6CrNiNb18-10 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S34700 according to UNS norm. 347 material is a high temperature grade and it is designed for temperatures between 400 to 800 degree. 347 stainless can not be heat threated and it has a similar corrosion resistance to 321 and 304 grade stainless steels. 347 stainless is similar to 321 (1.4541) grade for many applications and this grade can weld easiliy. The most important elements in 1.4550 material are niobium and tantalum, which makes this grade have more stabilized structure. 347 stainless steel used in chemical industry, food production facilities, food storage equipment, oil refinery parts, waste treatment plants.
Alloy 347 is austenitic SS plates and sheets which offer excellent corrosion resistance properties. It offers better corrosion resistance compared to 321 alloys in strong oxidizing conditions. Stainless steel 347 plate has higher carbon content and provides higher strength at a temperature above 1000 F. The carbon content of alloy 347 enables dual certifications in most occurrences. It also offers high resistance to inter-granular corrosion in exposed to high temperature. This also offers greater and shorter creep and offers excellent mechanical properties. SS 347 Sheets & Plates are heat resistant and are non-magnetic in nature. These grades SS plates and sheets are very useful in a harsh environment in rough circumstances.
347 Stainless Steel Coil can also be used in chloride or fluoride-free caustic solutions. Conventional methods of welding are used in fabricating 347 Stainless Steel Strip. Work hardening of ASTM A240 Type 347 Shim Stock is not recommended below 1700 degrees F. the material used in 347 2b Stainless Steel Flat Sheet needs to be annealed after working. This helps the A240 Tp347 Slit Coil in reattaining the maximum resistance to corrosion. The alloy used in UNS S34709 Plate manufacturing is said to be ductile and easy to form. 347 Stainless Steel Polished Plate may not be treated with heat post welding. Our team of experts has been keeping in mind all these characteristics of A240 Tp 347 Hot rolled Plate while recommending them to our customers.
