17-4PH is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel with high strength, high hardness, good welding performance and corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in strong parts that need some resistance to corrosion. This includes areas like aerospace, petrochemical, and marine engineering.
Our factory supplies 17-4PH material in different forms. We offer 17-4PH bars, plates, seamless pipes, fittings (socket weld/threaded), and flanges. All products meet ASTM A564/A693, AMS 5604, and similar global standards.

17-4PH processing characteristics:
Hot processing: Easy to forge, complete hot processing includes solution annealing, cooling and ripening.
Cold processing can only be done on plates that are soft. The conditions for this process are quite strict.
Easy to process: If you need higher hardness and strength, you can use aging treatment. If you want better ductility and plasticity, you can use solution treatment.
17-4PH advantages:
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Achieves tensile strength up to 1,310 MPa in H900 condition, surpassing many carbon steels.
High strength:
After processing and heat treatment, 17-4PH (UNS S17400) is much stronger than traditional austenitic stainless steels. It is 2-3 times stronger than steels like 304 and 316L.
Corrosion resistance: 17-4PH has good corrosion resistance in various corrosive media, especially for chlorides, sulfides and acidic media. It also has some resistance to stress corrosion. It is good for use in high temperature and high pressure environments. In a mildly corrosive environment, its stress corrosion cracking resistance is equivalent to 304 H1150 steel.
Heat treatability: Through a reasonable heat treatment process, 17-4PH can obtain good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Common heat treatment methods include solution treatment and aging treatment.
Weldability: 17-4PH welds very well. It can be joined using standard welding methods for various projects.
