17-4PH is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel with high strength, high hardness, good welding performance and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in high-strength parts with certain corrosion resistance requirements, such as aerospace, petrochemical and marine engineering. Our factory supplies 17-4PH material product forms: 17-4ph bars, plates, seamless pipes, fittings (socket weld/threaded), and flanges – all manufactured to ASTM A564/A693, AMS 5604, and equivalent global standards.
17-4PH processing characteristics:
Hot processing: Easy to forge, complete hot processing includes solution annealing, cooling and ripening.
Cold processing: Cold processing can only be performed on plates in a soft temper, and the conditions are relatively strict.
Easy to process: If higher hardness and strength are required, aging treatment can be performed; if better ductility and plasticity are required, solution treatment can be performed.
17-4PH advantages:
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Achieves tensile strength up to 1,310 MPa in H900 condition, surpassing many carbon steels.
High strength: After processing and heat treatment, the strength of 17-4PH (UNS S17400) is 2-3 times higher than traditional austenitic stainless steels such as 304, 316L, etc.
Corrosion resistance: 17-4PH has good corrosion resistance in various corrosive media, especially for chlorides, sulfides and acidic media. At the same time, it also has certain stress corrosion resistance and is suitable for use in high temperature and high pressure environments. In a mildly corrosive environment, its stress corrosion cracking resistance is equivalent to 304 H1150 steel.
Heat treatability: Through a reasonable heat treatment process, 17-4PH can obtain good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Common heat treatment methods include solution treatment and aging treatment.
Weldability: 17-4PH has excellent welding performance and can be welded by conventional welding methods to meet the needs of different projects.
